Mohamed Diab responds to Mohamed Sobhi’s accusations about the movie “Al-Sit”.

The controversy launched by the artist Mohamed Sobhi over the film “The Woman” sparked a wide wave of discussion within the artistic community, after he considered the film to be part of an “external conspiracy,” an opinion that was adopted following an article by a famous critic, which opened the door to accusations of subordination and betrayal that targeted the creators of the work.

In his response to Sobhi, the director and screenwriter Mohamed Diab expressed his complete rejection of his accusations, stressing Artistic criticism is an authentic and legitimate right, but turning artistic disagreement into accusations of betrayal and conspiracy is morally and professionally unacceptable.

Diab said: “Anyone has the right to criticize any film and evaluate it artistically in the way he sees fit, but for the matter to come to an accusation of treason against the filmmakers, who are among the most important and sincere filmmakers in Egypt, this is unacceptable, shameful, and frankly absurd.”

Diab pointed out that the logic of the conspiracy does not stop with the artists. Not only, but it extends to include the production companies participating in the film, the majority of which he described as national state-owned companies, asking with disapproval: “Is it possible that Marwan Hamed, Ahmed Murad, and Mona Zaki are part of an external conspiracy?” Are state-owned production companies part of this conspiracy as well?" Our conscience or our art.”

Mohamed Sobhi launched a sharp attack on the makers of the film “The Six,” which deals with the biography of “Kawkab Al-Sharq.” Umm Kulthum, directing a direct reproach to the star Mona Zaki, the heroine of the work, and stressing his refusal to present any artistic works that he believes contradict the truth or affect the symbols of Egyptian art.

Mohamed Sobhi said in television statements: As an actor, when a movie or play is shown to me, it may be great and brilliant, but it may be contrary to the truth, and I cannot do it, and I blame my student and beloved Mona Zaki, and I am proud of her, for falling into such a situation. The incident.

Sobhi recalled a human aspect of his memories with “Kawkab Al-Sharq” and said: Umm Kulthum, while I was preparing, I worked selling her tickets at the box office for her concerts, and I saw people’s respect for her when they were coming to buy tickets.

Sobhi rejected the rumors about portraying Umm Kulthum as a stingy person at work, stressing: Umm Kulthum appeared stingy to her.. “There is nothing more generous than a woman.”

The film deals with the biography of “Umm Kulthum,” written by Ahmed Murad, directed by Marwan Hamed, and starring a large number of stars, including Amr Saad, Ahmed Helmy, Karim Abdel Aziz, Aser Yassin, Nelly Karim, Amina Khalil, and Amir Al Masry.
