"We are happy with the big museum" The Egyptian Caricature Day concludes at the Mahmoud Mokhtar Museum

The activities of the Egyptian Cartoon Day Exhibition concluded in its fifth session at the Mahmoud Mukhtar Museum, as part of the Ministry of Culture’s program “We are happy with the Grand Museum… and there are still many museums in Egypt.” Which is implemented under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, with the aim of highlighting the cultural and artistic value of Egyptian museums and activating their role in cultural life, in parallel with the momentum accompanying the opening of the Egyptian Museum.
The events witnessed an artistic tour in the Nahdet Misr and Isis halls at the Mahmoud Mukhtar Museum, in which Dr. Walid Qanoush, Head of the Fine Arts Sector, the artist Mustafa Al-Sheikh, President of the Egyptian Caricature Society, and the artist Fawzi Morsi, the exhibition director and Secretary-General of the Society, participated, along with an elite group of artists and caricature art lovers.
The audience inspected the exhibition, which included more than 150 artworks with the participation of artists from 35 countries, their works distributed between a special theme that celebrates the great artist Ahmed Toghan through caricature portraits, and an international theme that reflects the world’s artists’ celebration of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum as a global cultural event.
After the tour, the names of the winners of the material prizes presented by the family of the artist Mohamed Abdel Moneim Rakha were announced; The first place in the field of caricature portraits was won by the artist Ahmed Riyad, and the second place was won by the artist Khaled Salah.
In the field of caricature, the first place was won by the artist Amal Samir, while the artist Ahmed Jaissah came in second place.
As for the special prizes, the artist Angie Mahmoud won with an original work submitted by the artist Abdulaziz Taj, the artist Makhlouf also won with an original work submitted by the artist Amr Selim, and the artist Shaima Al-Shafi’i with an original work submitted by The artist Amr Fahmy and the artist Hosni Abbas with an original work presented by the artist Ibrahim Al-Baridi, in addition to the artist Omar Siddiq winning an original work presented by the artist Khader Hassan.
A number of icons of caricature art participated in the events, including the artist Farouk Moussa, a member of the jury, the artist Saeed Badawy, a member of the jury, and the artist Ahmed Alawi.
The program also included an extensive caricature workshop presented by the artist Saeed Badawi, in addition to a “Live” drawing segment. A number of distinguished artists participated in it, including: Maher Daniel, Hani Abdel Gawad, Ahmed Riyad, Makhlouf, Ahmed Geissa, and Hani Ibrahim, in an artistic evening full of joy that reflected the true spirit of the art of caricature as an art that is close to people and expresses the pulse of daily life.
At the conclusion of the events, the artist Mustafa Al-Sheikh, President of the Egyptian Caricature Society, thanked the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, the Fine Arts Sector, and the Mahmoud Mukhtar Museum, And the family of the artist Mohamed Abdel Moneim Rakha, and to everyone who contributed to the success of the Egyptian Cartoon Day celebration in its fifth edition, sending a special greeting to the great artist Abdelaziz Taj, the honorary president of the association, in appreciation of his career and outstanding contributions to the art of caricature.
