The European Union extends sanctions imposed on Venezuela for an additional year

The Council of the European Union decided, today, Tuesday, to extend the restrictive measures imposed on Venezuela for an additional year ending on January 10, 2027, in light of the continuing deterioration of the political and human rights situation in the country.

 

The Council explained, in a statement, that 69 people are currently still on the European sanctions list, and are therefore subject to an asset freeze, in addition to a ban on providing them any funds or economic resources, whether directly or indirectly. Direct.

 

 The measures imposed include a travel ban to European Union countries against the listed individuals.

 

The European Council confirmed that these measures will remain under review, with the Union ready to amend its policy, in line with any tangible positive developments at the level of democracy, the rule of law, and respect for human rights in the country.
