The Director of the International Organization for Migration visits Libya to highlight the need to prevent loss of life in the Mediterranean

This visit comes in light of a difficult migration situation, and in light of continuing concern over reports of suffering and death of migrants as they attempt to embark on dangerous journeys along the Central Mediterranean route.
In her statement, the Director General said: “Every life lost on this road is a tragedy, and we can prevent it. Migrants deserve protection, dignity and hope, not danger. Saving lives requires shared responsibility and real cooperation.”

And Mrs. Pope will celebrate International Migrants Day On December 18, by visiting the organization’s operations in Libya, “To gain a closer look at migrant journeys and the challenges faced by communities, while strengthening efforts towards safe, orderly and regular migration,” According to the statement.
