FIFA announces discounted tickets for the 2026 World Cup matches

FIFA said that fans of the teams qualifying for the World Cup in North America will benefit from a special price category with a fixed price of $60 per ticket for all 104 matches in the tournament, including the final, in a move aimed at facilitating fans’ travel between the host cities.

The 2026 World Cup will be the largest edition ever since the tournament began in 1930, due to the increase in the number of teams to 48 instead of 32, with a total of 104 matches instead of 64 in the previous editions.

The matches will be held in 16 cities distributed among the three countries: Canada, the United States and Mexico.

FIFA explained in a statement issued on Tuesday that this category will be designated “for fans of the qualified teams, with each of the relevant member national federations managing the selection and distribution process.”

He added: “Note that each participating national federation will determine its own eligibility criteria and supervise the relevant application process, provided that it commits to allocating these tickets exclusively to fans of its national team.”

FIFA indicated that 20 million ticket requests have been registered so far during the current sales phase with the random drawing system, “which began on December 11 and will remain open until Tuesday, January 13, 2026.”

He added: “The timing of fans’ registration during the registration period will not have any impact on their chances of success (in obtaining tickets).”

FIFA indicated that it would grant “an exemption from administrative fees when processing refunds for unsuccessful requests” to fans who applied through their national federations’ allocations and whose teams did not qualify for the knockout rounds.

The next edition, which will be held between June 11 and July 19, 2026, is witnessing an increasing demand for purchasing tickets since the announcement of the match schedule, dates and locations.
