"Abu Dhabi Ports" and"Avisto" You are establishing a logistics services project in Tajikistan

Abu Dhabi, December 17, 2017 – Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced today the signing of a shareholders’ agreement with the “Avesto” Group, one of the largest private industrial conglomerates in Tajikistan, stipulating the establishment of a joint venture to provide integrated solutions in the field of logistics services and freight shipping nationwide.
According to the agreement, the joint venture will operate in the first phase as a light goods shipping services provider, with exclusive rights to unify and manage all shipping and logistics activities of the “Avesto” group companies, and provide services to third-party customers within the market.
The Avisto Group is one of the most prominent leaders in the private sector in the country. It operates more than 30 companies and factories in various sectors, and enjoys partnerships with eight major international institutions within joint projects.
Abu Dhabi Ports Group will own a majority stake of 51% in the joint venture, while Avesto Group will own a 49% stake. A phased structure has been adopted to support long-term growth and expand the project’s operational capabilities.
Abdul Aziz Zayed Al Shamsi, Regional CEO – Abu Dhabi Ports Group, said that this cooperation is a pivotal step in enhancing the presence of Abu Dhabi Ports and its sustainable expansion in Central Asia, noting that the growing industrial bases in Tajikistan and its strategic geographical location constitute a strong platform for developing an advanced logistical infrastructure that supports regional trade flows and connects regional and global markets, expressing his aspiration through the partnership with the “Avesto” group to provide integrated logistics solutions. A world-class approach that enhances the efficiency of the Middle Trade Corridor, and consolidates the group’s position as a leading enabler of global trade.
For his part, Muhammad Mirzo, General Manager of the “Avesto” Group, said that the group is a major driver of the industrial sector in Tajikistan, and plays a pivotal role in delivering local products to global markets, and that cooperation with a leading global partner such as the Abu Dhabi Ports Group represents a qualitative leap in the level of logistics services in Tajikistan, expressing his aspiration to enhance goods transport and shipping services, and create a modern strategic gateway linking Central Asia to global markets, and opening new horizons for economic growth at the level of the entire region.
It is worth noting that this cooperation represents a qualitative step within the efforts of Abu Dhabi Ports Group to enhance its presence along the Middle Trade Corridor and strengthen the trade link between East and West. It also strengthens the group’s partnerships in the Central Asia region, and provides direct access to the main land trade networks that link Tajikistan to regional markets before crossing the Caspian Sea, and completing the route through Azerbaijan and Georgia to reach Europe.
