Sharjah Literature Festival" Its second session will begin next January 5

Sharjah, December 17 / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and with the support and directives of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Book Authority, founder and honorary president of the Emirates Publishers Association, the second session of the “Sharjah Literature Festival” will start from January 5 to 11, 2026 in the University City of Sharjah.

The session is jointly organized by the Emirates Publishers Association and the Sharjah Book Authority under the slogan “A Society Woven by Stories” and extends over a period of seven days to give the public a space to interact with its rich programs, through which the festival continues its role as an effective annual platform that highlights the creativity of Emirati literature, and provides a space for fruitful communication between writers and readers, in addition to introducing the public to the latest trends in writing and creativity, which contributes to stimulating the spirit of innovation and creativity in society, and supporting the development and growth of the literary movement.

With its diverse activities, including dialogue sessions with authors and thought leaders, poetry evenings, and musical and cultural performances, the festival consolidates its importance as a bridge that connects members of society to intellectual production, and enhances the presence of literature in daily life. Let stories bring people together, unite their visions, and weave bonds that inspire generations.

Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi emphasized the ability of literature to form societies, preserve shared memory, and connect individuals with collective experiences that extend over time, so that stories become a living fabric whose threads intertwine to unite societies on the values ​​of understanding, empathy, and belonging, and words become a unifying and inspiring force.

She added that literature is the cradle of memory, imagination, and identity. It preserves our stories, deepens our understanding of each other, and establishes a sense of belonging that transcends generations. Through the Sharjah Literature Festival, we celebrate the power of words to connect communities, enrich minds, and stimulate the emergence of a conscious society characterized by empathy and humanity.

For his part, His Excellency Rashid Al-Kous, Executive Director of the Emirates Publishers Association, confirmed the completion of preparations for the launch of the second edition of the festival, indicating that it will present a qualitative program that keeps pace with the aspirations of the public and those interested, and reflects the richness of the cultural scene in the Emirates.

Al-Kous stressed that interest in literature is interest in the spirit of society, and this cultural forum is a celebration of this spirit, and an invitation to everyone to participate in creating a richer and deeper cultural scene.

This year, the festival will witness the participation of an elite group of authors, thought leaders, innovators and artists in 24 sessions, including dialogue sessions, poetry evenings, and musical and cultural performances, in addition to a book exhibition that presents festival visitors with the latest literary publications from a group of participating Emirati publishing houses and provides the opportunity to view and purchase them.

During the festival days, the association also organizes 14 educational workshops in Arabic calligraphy, storytelling and creative arts, in addition to a package of entertainment activities. Visitors will also have the opportunity to obtain handmade products that combine the splendor of design with the aesthetics of authentic local heritage.
