Sharjah, December 17 / WAM / The Sharjah Government Relations Department discussed today with an American diplomatic delegation ways to enhance cooperation and cultural exchange between the two sides and learn about the emirate’s vision in consolidating dialogue between civilizations and building bridges of communication with the international community.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Government Relations, Sheikh Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the Department, and His Excellency Robert Raines, Consul General of the United States of America in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, along with a number of officials from both sides.

The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation in the fields of culture, knowledge and creativity and ways to develop joint programs that contribute to enhancing mutual understanding between the Emirati and American communities, including the exchange of cultural and student delegations and the organization of joint events targeting young people, creative people, and academic and cultural institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The Department of Government Relations reviewed Sharjah’s cultural and knowledge infrastructure and its role in opening new horizons for cooperation with diplomatic missions and international institutions through initiatives, festivals and cultural events that the emirate hosts throughout the year.

The visit program included a field tour of the “Jubail Market” in Sharjah, during which the American delegation was briefed on the components of the market and the model it embodies that combines preserving the features of the local urban heritage and providing a modern infrastructure for services, which reflects the emirate’s vision of developing pioneering projects that serve the community and take into account the authenticity of the national identity.

The delegation learned about the role of the market in supporting the food system in the emirate and enhancing the presence of traditional markets as social and economic spaces that express the local lifestyle and constitute an open bridge for visitors to get to know Emirati culture up close.

Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi stressed that the meeting with friendly diplomatic missions constitutes a platform for presenting initiatives that enhance the emirate’s presence on the international arena, as Sharjah places cultural and knowledge exchange at the heart of its relations with various cities and countries of the world and works, through the Department of Government Relations, to expand channels of dialogue with our international partners in a way that supports the emirate’s vision of being a center for cultural convergence and an open space for cooperation between peoples.

He added: Cooperation with the Consulate General of the United States of America represents an opportunity to build joint programs and projects in the fields of culture, arts, and community programs, allowing the younger generations on both sides to benefit from mutual experiences and enhance their common understanding of the values ​​of coexistence, openness, and diversity.

For his part, Robert Raines, Consul General of the United States in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, said: The Emirate of Sharjah’s approach to development embodies a clear commitment to innovation, heritage and society, and this visit highlighted real opportunities for both sides to deepen cooperation in economic, cultural and educational initiatives.

This visit comes within the framework of the Government Relations Department’s keenness to strengthen its network of relations with diplomatic missions in the country and organize meetings and introductory programs that contribute to highlighting the comprehensive development model in Sharjah and consolidating its position as a leading destination for investment in people, knowledge and culture and as a bridge for cultural communication between the East and the West.
