"Federal tax" Honors strategic partners

Dubai, December 18 / WAM / The Federal Tax Authority honored its partners in the government and private sectors in appreciation of their efforts, cooperation and active participation in supporting the Authority’s journey of excellence.
His Excellency Khaled Ali Al Bustani, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority, confirmed that the Authority achieved many qualitative achievements during the year 2025, and continued development within its policies aimed at encouraging creativity and innovation, to meet the aspirations of all categories of customers.
Al Bustani said during the opening of the third forum for the Federal Tax Authority’s strategic partners for the year 2025, which was held in Dubai: Thanks to the cooperation and joint efforts of the concerned authorities; Plans to develop the UAE tax system, which we are all proud of, are continuing after it has become a major contributor to achieving the goals of financial sustainability. The Authority is implementing comprehensive plans to continuously modernize its systems and services, to expand digital transformation to keep pace with the government’s strategy aimed at facilitating people’s lives, adopting highly efficient business models, and providing a future generation of proactive services, so that the UAE government’s services will be the best in the world.
He stressed that the Authority, since its inception, has been keen to form effective strategic partnerships with the relevant federal and local government agencies, and private sector entities in all areas of the Authority’s work, pointing to the fundamental role of these partnerships in the successful implementation of the tax system, the continuous improvement of the Authority’s services, and increasing tax awareness.
He stated that the number of memorandums of understanding signed by the Authority with government and private agencies rose to more than 55, with the aim of enhancing cooperation in many fields, including; Exchanging information and data, electronic connectivity, strengthening audit mechanisms, supporting tax system awareness plans, and exchanging experiences to improve joint operations.
Al Bustani added that the Authority has approved 100 new processes to zero out the digital bureaucracy for its services via the “Emirates Tax” platform, most of which have been completed, and the rest of the approved zeroing processes are being completed. Many initiatives have also been launched to speed up tax procedures within the framework of effective partnerships with the private sector. These efforts culminated in the Authority winning the “Zeroing Government Bureaucracy” award in its first session by obtaining first place in the “Impact on the Business Sector” category, and the country achieved The UAE ranks first in the world in the tax and lack of bureaucracy index.
He stressed that the current year witnessed a significant increase in corporate tax compliance rates, as a large number of taxable persons registered with the Authority within the legal periods specified for each category, and hundreds of thousands of tax returns and annual declarations received from those registered with corporate tax were processed, and the number of those registered for corporate tax exceeded 680,000 registrants, while the number of those registered for value-added tax exceeded 520,000 registrants.
The Director General of the Federal Tax Authority attributed the increase in the compliance rate to the growing tax awareness among business sectors, and to the ease of steps provided by the Authority for submitting returns and paying taxes due through the “Emirates Tax” platform, which provides digital tax services around the clock with clear and fast procedures, as thousands of applications are received daily and processed with great efficiency, which indicates the excellence of the tax legislative and procedural system that complies with the best standards and is considered the most modern of its kind in the world.
He stressed that in implementation of the vision of the wise leadership to develop a modern housing system for citizens; The Authority continued its efforts to continuously improve the value-added tax refund service for the construction of citizens’ homes. More than 44,000 tax refund transactions were implemented for male and female citizens who recovered the value-added tax they had paid for the construction of their newly constructed homes, while the Authority consolidated its position in the field of institutional excellence and increasing competitive capabilities through its ongoing plans to develop its human competencies through various training programs, encouraging and stimulating academic development, and refining the competencies of its work team. The percentage of the Authority’s employees obtaining 100% training courses and professional development programs over the past year.
He said that the Authority is looking forward to a new phase of growth and expansion in its services and in the customer base in the tax sector, noting that the coming period will witness the implementation of the new mechanism for calculating the excise tax on sweetened drinks according to the “graduated volumetric model” that links the value of the tax imposed to the amount of sugar in the drink, as part of the efforts made to work to accelerate the pace of building a safe and healthy society, improve consumption patterns, and combat communicable diseases resulting from consumption patterns that are harmful to public health.
He added that the Federal Tax Authority is also preparing, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, to implement the electronic invoicing project, which will have an effective contribution to the continued development of the tax system, and enhance tax compliance by automating tax returns and facilitating procedures implemented through the “Emirates Tax” platform for digital tax services.
He also pointed out that the Authority has prepared to implement the minimum supplementary tax that is consistent with the rules of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, within the framework of the UAE’s commitment to implementing the two-pillar solution issued by the organization, which aims to create a fair and transparent global tax system that is compatible with global standards.
