The devastating Cyclone Ditwah costs Sri Lanka $1.6 billion for reconstruction

Declared Thursday allocated $1.6 billion in 2026 to finance the reconstruction of the island, following which killed more than 640 people.
The effects of the cyclone that struck the country in November affected 2.3 million people, or more than 10% of the population.

International Donors Conference
It has previously indicated its heavy reliance on foreign aid. The Ministry of Finance announced on Wednesday that an international donor conference would be held in early January.
The government had previously requested $200 million from the International Monetary Fund through an emergency relief fund.
It also obtained approval from the World Bank to reallocate $120 million in previously granted aid to help the country recover from the disaster.
