The season derives its name from Tantora, the historic sundial located in the heart of the old town, which the people of AlUla relied on in ancient times to know the time and organize the agricultural seasons. The season embodies the celebration of the arrival of winter and the beginning of the agricultural season.

The activities of the Winter at Tantora festival come within the AlUla Moments calendar; With the aim of enhancing the cultural and tourism movement, and enriching the experience of visitors, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in developing cultural tourism, and highlighting the historical and heritage sites in the Kingdom.

The festival is one of the most prominent festivals for which the governorate is famous, and many visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom are keen to attend it annually.
