"Trends" participates in "The third dialogue of the Alliance of Think Tanks in the Global South" In Shanghai

Shanghai, December 26 / WAM / The Trends Research and Consultation Center participated in the activities of the “Third Dialogue of the Alliance of Think Tanks in the Global South”, which was held in Shanghai, organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and in partnership with Fudan University, with broad participation from think tanks and research and academic institutions from countries of the Global South.
The center was represented in the dialogue by Abdulaziz Ahmed Al Shehhi, principal researcher and vice president of the research sector, where he participated in the main sessions and discussions that dealt with strengthening research cooperation between think tanks in the countries of the South, and the role of knowledge in supporting public policies, in addition to issues of sustainable development, economic transformations, and geopolitical changes.
The events witnessed discussions on building effective intellectual networks, developing knowledge coordination mechanisms, and enhancing the contribution of think tanks in providing strategic visions that contribute to formulating more balanced and comprehensive policies, reflecting the priorities of the countries of the Global South.
During one of the sessions, Abdulaziz Ahmed Al Shehhi stressed the importance of moving from exchanging theoretical visions to building practical and sustainable research partnerships, noting that the current stage requires knowledge integration to confront common challenges, while employing technology and artificial intelligence in developing research tools, policy making, and building the capabilities of researchers, especially young people.
He pointed out that think tanks in the countries of the South possess diverse expertise and experiences that can form an influential knowledge base regionally and internationally, if they are linked within clear institutional frameworks and joint research programs that respond to the needs of societies.
The dialogue concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing coordination between the participating centers, and activating its outcomes through research cooperation initiatives and programs that enhance the role of thought and knowledge in supporting development and policy formulation in countries of the Global South.
