We are committed to the continuous flow of goods to meet the needs of consumers and businesses

Ahmed Yousef Al Hassan, CEO and General Manager of Dubai Ports World Group in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, said that the past month showed the whole world how fragile supply chains are.
Al-Hassan added in his account on the LinkedIn platform: “I spent a lot of time speaking directly with customers, and heard directly from them the uncertainty they face regarding shipping schedules, route options, and costs.”
He pointed out that the trade movement through the Strait of Hormuz has witnessed a noticeable slowdown, but supply chains are adapting, and shipments are being directed through alternative ports such as Khor Fakkan, Fujairah, Sohar and Jeddah, indicating that despite the challenges, goods continue to flow.
He said: We are also aware of the cost pressures that many merchants face. High insurance costs, long shipping routes, and tight capacity are all factors that drive increases in global trade, but we do everything we can to limit those costs within our control.
He explained: “To ensure the continued movement of goods, we have activated internal corridors to speed up the transport of containers to Jebel Ali Port to complete clearance procedures. We have also increased support in alternative ports, expanded the capacity of refrigerated containers, and enhanced land transport around the clock in cooperation with the Dubai authorities.”
He stated that DP World has worked in the field of global trade for decades, and although each disruption is different from the other, the response is always based on the same principles: moving quickly, maintaining coordination, and adapting in real time to serve our customers.
Al-Hassan stressed that the group’s teams work around the clock in cooperation with government agencies, customs, and partners across the network to provide solutions to our customers. The level of coordination on the ground reflects a joint effort by all parties concerned.
He said: “We are fully committed to being in harmony with the strategic objectives of the UAE in managing this crisis, and ensuring the continued flow of goods to meet the needs of consumers and companies,” thanking customers for their continued trust, and stressing that the company’s priority remains in maintaining the smooth movement of shipments.
