40% expected growth in retail sales supported by the launch of “Dubai Shopping”

The launch of the Dubai Shopping Festival sales season yesterday, which includes discounts between 25% and 75% on more than 800 international and local brands, in more than 3,500 stores throughout the emirate, has contributed to a significant increase in demand for shopping centers in Dubai.

The Dubai Shopping Festival announced the start of the sales season, which also includes the return of “12 Hours of Sale” offers at rates ranging between 25 and 90% on a number of products, in all shopping centers affiliated with the Majid Al Futtaim Group.

Emirates Today monitored that the discount offers included stores for clothing, shoes, bags, perfumes, cosmetics, household appliances, and electronics.

For their part, consumers reported that offering offers in line with the holiday season made it possible to purchase gifts within the sales, in addition to purchasing winter season supplies and purchasing gifts before the beginning of the new year, adding that the clothing offers are diverse, but it is important to expand the offers on winter clothing at greater rates.

In turn, specialists in retail trade indicated that shopping centers witnessed a remarkable demand that revived sales, which are expected to rise at greater rates in the coming days, and to rise to rates of up to 40%, especially with the offers keeping up with school holidays and the timing of employees receiving salaries.

In detail, the consumer, Ashraf Abdel Hamid, said, “The launch of the Dubai Shopping Festival discount offers provided many opportunities for consuming families to buy gifts of various products, especially since the offers come before the beginning of the new year celebrations, which makes many families accept to buy gifts before the beginning of the new year.”

The consumer, Amjad Samir, added that “keeping up with the offers for the holiday season was one of the positive aspects that provided families with opportunities to buy gifts in various fields, especially in the clothing sector,” calling for the importance of expanding offers that include winter clothes in many stores, especially since some stores make the largest percentages of discounts on summer clothes compared to the percentages of discounts on winter clothes that many consumers need, whether for travel or for use within the country.

The consumer, Sami Ibrahim, pointed out that “shopping centers are currently witnessing expanded sales on many products, especially clothing, electronics, and perfumes, which account for the largest percentage of sales, which increases the scope for families to purchase gifts, whether for the holiday season or on the occasion of the approaching beginning of the new Gregorian year,” pointing out that “the clothing offers are diverse and include children’s clothing, but it will be important to increase and expand the percentages of discounts at greater rates on winter clothing, which many consumers are interested in purchasing.”

Sales official at a ready-to-wear clothing store, Jay Knighten, said, “Retail stores in shopping malls in Dubai witnessed large and noticeable rates of demand with the launch of sales offers starting yesterday, which revived sales at positive rates that are expected to rise at greater rates in the coming days, especially with the offers keeping up with the weekends, school vacations, and the time when employees receive salaries,” adding that “increasing offers on some types of clothing and not others depends on the various marketing policies of the stores.”

The sales official at a bag and leather products store, Muhammad Bashir, pointed out that “Dubai Shopping’s sales offers have revived sales and increased demand at greater rates, and it is expected that sales increases by the end of the weekend will exceed 40% compared to normal days, especially with many consumers rushing to buy gifts before the beginning of the new year.”

Dilip Nilesh, a sales official at a clothing and shoe store, explained, “The large discount offers have revived sales, and sales are expected to rise over the next two days to about 40% compared to normal days, according to the large demand indicators that began yesterday. They are expected to grow in the coming days, especially with the deadline for paying salaries and the season of buying holiday gifts and the new year.”
