Abu Dhabi Police warns against non-compliance with safety laws for transporting bicycles in trailers

The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate called on drivers, as part of the “Our Winter is Safe and Enjoyable” campaign, to adhere to the safety laws and conditions for transporting bicycles in trailers of all types and sizes. This includes installing a number on the back of the trailer as a third number, providing the trailer with light and warning signals, using warning signals for the car and the trailer, and for the trailer to also be equipped with a warning and reflective sticker, in addition to adhering to the right lane in all circumstances to ensure the safety of the vehicle. The width of the trailer must not exceed 260 centimetres, and its length must not exceed the length of the vehicle.

Abu Dhabi Police warned that there are a number of violations resulting from non-compliance with safety laws for transporting bicycles in trailers, including Article No. 96, which is towing a vehicle, boat, or vehicle in a way that does not meet security and safety conditions, resulting in a violation worth 1,000 UAE dirhams, and Article No. 97, which concerns the absence of lighting lamps behind the trailer or on its sides, is a violation worth 500 UAE dirhams, as well as Article No. 27 “B” of the Federal Traffic Law, which stipulates that perpetrators of actions that may lead to “blurring vehicle plate numbers” will be fined a fine of 400 UAE dirhams.

She stressed the keenness to intensify traffic control and take legal measures to violate any vehicle that does not comply with safety laws in trailers in accordance with the Federal Traffic Law.
