With prizes totaling more than 17 million dirhams, the Fazza Falconry Championship competitions were launched today, which will continue until January 12, confirming its position as one of the largest and most important falconry championships in the UAE and the region, and renewing its commitment to supporting this ancient heritage sport and its sustainability for future generations.
The junior category inaugurated the Fazza Falconry Championship “Al-Talwah”, organized by the Fazza Championships Administration, at the headquarters of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage in the Al-Habab area, which was equipped according to the highest technical standards and modern, world-class facilities, in a step that reflects the sustainability of the tournament and its continuous development.
In a scene that carried profound implications for investing in future falconers, and consolidating the approach of transmitting this authentic national heritage across generations, participants competed in the categories of Tabba and Jir Taba falcons, with wide participation and more than 150 birds distributed over eight rounds, which reflected the size of the demand and early passion for the sport of falconry.
Regarding the launch, the Director of the Fazza Championships Department, Rashid Hareb Al-Khasouni, confirmed that the Fazza Falconry Championship occupies an advanced position in the table of falconry championships in the region, due to its nobility, professional organization, competitive momentum, and wide participation from various categories.
Al-Khasouni said: The Fazza Falconry Championship represents a major milestone in the calendar of regional falconry championships, and it is not just competitions, but rather an integrated system that combines heritage preservation and consolidation of this heritage, within a sustainable vision that enhances the status of falconry as a sport and identity.
He added: The junior category constitutes a fundamental pillar in the sustainability of this heritage sport, as we are keen to prepare a generation aware of the values of falconry, and capable of bearing the responsibility of preserving this national heritage and developing it in the future, in line with the vision of the wise leadership in preserving the national identity.
The Fazza Falconry Championship continues to consolidate its presence as a prominent sporting and heritage event, combining authenticity and high competitiveness, and confirms the commitment of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage to support popular heritage and enhance its presence in the contemporary sporting and cultural scene.
