Hamdan bin Zayed inspects the Liwa International Festival and reviews the cultural and sporting events
Liwa, December 28 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, visited the city of Liwa, where he inspected the Liwa International Festival and the accompanying cultural and sporting events.
The visit comes within the framework of his continuous follow-up of development and investment projects and his keenness to support activities that enhance cultural heritage and support tourism movement in the Al Dhafra region.
His Highness began his visit with a tour of the festival, which included a visit to a number of participating camps, where he inspected the Abu Dhabi Investment Office camp and learned about the economic initiatives and investment projects proposed, met with a number of participating investors, and listened to an explanation about the investment opportunities that support sustainable development in the Al Dhafra region.
His Highness also visited the Abu Dhabi Media Network camp, where he was briefed on the media equipment and mechanisms for covering the festival’s activities, in addition to the accompanying exhibition and the network’s role in conveying a comprehensive picture of the event at the local and international levels.
During the visit, His Highness met with a number of officials and organizers, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, His Excellency Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, His Excellency Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Dr. Hamdan bin Muslim Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, His Excellency Nasser Mohammed Al Mansouri, Undersecretary of the Court of the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, along with a number of other officials.
His Highness was briefed on the progress of work and the efforts made to ensure the success of the events and achieve their goals, stressing the importance of heritage sports in promoting cultural and sports tourism in the country.
His Highness witnessed part of the sand show races from the main stage, expressing his admiration for the high levels of participants and the distinguished organization of the races, and praised the efforts made in developing the Liwa projects and its international festival, stressing the commitment of the wise leadership to supporting investment, sports and preserving national heritage.
His Highness pointed out that the Liwa International Festival 2026 highlights the unique tourism components of the Al Dhafra region as a vibrant, sustainable destination, through a diverse program that enriches visitors’ passion for adventure, sports, culture, arts and music, and invites everyone to create the most beautiful memories with family and friends.
