Bodour Al Qasimi launches a campaign "We remove Sharjah…We remove culture"

Sharjah, December 29 / WAM / Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and Honorary President of the Emirates Publishers Association, today launched the “Resident of Sharjah…Resident of Culture” campaign, which aims to promote the culture of reading among members of society and strengthen the relationship between readers and the cultural identity of the Emirate of Sharjah, as an extension of the process of cultural and literary development in the emirate.

This initiative is inspired by Sharjah’s firm commitment to culture, and seeks to transform reading into a rich experience of belonging to the city, and to highlight its specificity in the minds of its residents and visitors, by presenting creative products that reflect its spirit and historical and cultural features, and carry the city’s cultural symbols and stories. These products are designed to represent cultural touchpoints that arouse a sense of curiosity to discover Arabic books and Emirati writers, so that each product becomes a link between personal style and literary exploration.

The campaign starts from an innovative idea inspired by the experience of a quiet hotel stay, where reading is established as an upscale haven that gives the reader serenity and tranquility, and highlights the Emirate of Sharjah as this haven. Everyone who lives or visits it is a guest of culture and a guest of the integrated reading and cultural experiences that the emirate holds in its arsenal. In this vision, the book becomes a portal that transports the reader to another world of contemplation and comfort by presenting reading within promotional scenes that mimic the atmosphere of hotels that combine luxury and the spirit of… Authenticity in the Emirate of Sharjah, and amidst this comfortable atmosphere, reading is not presented as a duty or a passing activity, but rather as a modern lifestyle experience that gives the reader a feeling of belonging and tranquility, as the pages turn into a space for relaxation and discovery, just as a quiet stay in a hotel does.

Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi stressed that reading is not just an act of knowledge, but rather a living bridge that connects a person to the memory of the place and its cultural spirit, noting that this campaign comes to reshape the relationship between the reader and the city of Sharjah and make him feel that he is part of the story and that the book is an extension of the nature and spirit of the city, which contributes to enhancing the love of knowledge and sustaining the close connection with the local cultural stock.

She said that the “Inmates of Sharjah…Inmates of Culture” initiative was designed not only to be an invitation to reading, but also to be an integrated path to build a deeper emotional connection between individuals and their cultural space, in a way that consolidates belonging and enriches the cultural movement in society, and pours into the crucible of the civilizational project founded by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

Based on the belief that reading is a way of life, “Platform for Distribution” provides through this campaign products that combine fashion, books, hospitality, card games and stationery, consolidating the company’s identity as a brand that goes beyond the product to an integrated lifestyle.

The product line also includes phrases that celebrate local identity, such as “Reading Club,” “Read You in Sharjah,” and prominent landmarks from Sharjah to enhance the emotional connection to the city and its cultural identity, and to establish reading as a cultural haven inspired by the spirit of Sharjah.

This campaign is part of an innovative series of initiatives launched by Manasa Distribution Company, within the framework of its strategic vision aimed at supporting Emirati writers and publishers and enriching and diversifying reading sources, and it constitutes an extension of the “Read You in Sharjah” campaign that it implemented last year with the aim of promoting the culture of reading and consolidating Sharjah’s position as the cultural capital of the Arab world.
