Gaza – The United Nations describes Israel’s decision to suspend the work of humanitarian organizations as “disgraceful” and urges it to reconsider

In a statement, Turk said that the decision is the latest in a series of… “Illegal restrictions on humanitarian access, including the Israeli ban on the agency UNRWAas well as attacks on Israeli and Palestinian non-governmental organizations, amid broader problems faced by the United Nations and other humanitarian agencies in reaching those in need.
Türk urged all countries, especially influential countries, to take urgent steps and insist that Israel immediately allow unimpeded entry of aid into Gaza, adding that “These arbitrary comments make the situation worse for the people of Gaza, who are already suffering from intolerable conditions.”
The High Commissioner reminded the Israeli authorities of their obligation under international law to ensure the provision of basic supplies for daily life in Gaza, including allowing facilitated humanitarian access.
According to media reports, Israel announced the suspension of the work of 37 organizations in Gaza, including Doctors Without Borders, the Norwegian Refugee Council, the International Rescue Committee, branches of Oxfam and Caritas, and others.
In this context, the United Nations and its humanitarian partners urged the Israeli authorities to reconsider their announcement issued yesterday, Tuesday, regarding international non-governmental organizations, “Which is an essential part of the life-saving humanitarian operation in the occupied Palestinian territory.”
