المملكة: 10,000 research papers and 2,000 projects…the scientific harvest of the University of Jeddah

launched University of Jeddah Research and innovation strategy for the next five years “2026-2030”, aiming to transform scientific output from research papers into tangible products and emerging companies, during the Research and Innovation Forum, which witnessed the unveiling of a huge outcome that included the registration of 14 patents and the publication of 10,000 scientific papers, thus enhancing the university’s position as an active partner in achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

The university announced a radical change in its compass. Research, as the new strategy focuses on moving from the Traditional scientific publishing to the stage of actual application and development of products of economic value.

Record Achievements

During the forum, the university reviewed record numbers that reflected the abundance of its production, as it succeeded in supporting more than 2,000 diverse research projects, which confirms its commitment to providing a fertile environment for scientists and researchers.

Official statistics revealed that university employees published more than 10,000 scientific papers in the finest Global bibliographic databases, which consolidates its presence in the international scientific scene.

The university crowned its efforts by registering 14 patents in its name, a strong indication of the quality of research outputs and its ability to provide innovative solutions to existing challenges.

In the context of the new direction, Dr. Dina Hajjar, Dean of the Deanship of Research and Innovation, explained that the five-year strategy was specifically designed to motivate researchers to go beyond the theoretical aspect towards establishing emerging knowledge companies.

Future plans

Hajjar stressed that the focus in the next stage will be entirely on the outputs that can be transformed into products that serve society and support the national economy, instead of being limited to academic publishing only.

The forum formed a vital platform that brought together an elite group of academics and experts, where successful research experiences were exchanged and ways to enhance cooperation between the university and the industrial sector were discussed to bridge the gap between the laboratory and the market.

The event included An innovations exhibition that highlighted the university’s most prominent scientific achievements, allowing visitors and those interested to see closely the innovative capabilities of national competencies.
