Dima, who celebrates her forty-seventh birthday today, Saturday, January 3, 2026, is not considered a stranger to the audience of Syrian and Arab drama in general, as she is the artist who during her career performed roles that are still engraved in the memory of viewers. Among the most prominent of these roles are: the series “Prestige: The Response” with the star Tim Hassan, “Bab Al-Hara”, “The Invasion”, “Stelo”, “Al-Arabji”, “Daughters of the Family”, “Black Roses”, “Kingdoms of Fire”, “Spot of Light”, “Sticks of Tears”, “Soft Thorns”, “Girls’ Collar”, and “Your Right Hands Do Not Own”. This diverse and diverse mixture made her a professional actress with a strong presence, in tragedy, comedy, fantasy, and even in historical works.
Dima Kandalaft began her artistic career as a singer, after she graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Damascus, where she joined the “Choir of Joy” band, and then the “Rainbow” band. She appeared publicly for the first time with Syrian singer and composer Bashar Zarqan, in one of the poems of the late poet Mahmoud Darwish, and later joined the “Safar Band,” and gained fame inside Syria after Syrian television showed some of the band’s songs. She later decided to enter the field of acting, so she joined the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, and her first acting work was a play entitled “The Moon Song.”

As for the series “Backstage,” Dima plays the role of an investigative journalist called “Lara,” where the events of the series begin with excitement and mystery, when “Lara” finds a photo album that reveals the forgotten story of the young singer, “Ghina Habib,” who disappeared in the nineties, which prompts her to enter worlds inhabited by gagged mouths, ruled by exploitation, scandals, and the silence of the entertainment industry, and the ghost of the past continues to haunt her present.
