Venezuela’s Supreme Court orders the Vice President to assume the presidency temporarily

On Saturday, the Supreme Court in Venezuela ordered Vice President Delcy Rodriguez to temporarily assume the presidency following the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro by the United States.
The Constitutional Chamber of the court said that "Rodriguez, as the responsible party, assumes all the responsibilities, duties and powers assigned to the position of President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela with the aim of ensuring continuity of administration and comprehensive defense of the homeland."
The judges have not yet declared Maduro permanently absent, which would have led to early elections within 30 days.
