Austria is experiencing an unprecedented frost

Austria is witnessing an unprecedented severe cold wave, as several cities in the regions of “Möll-Virtel,” “Wald-Virtel,” and “Userfern” in the states of “Tirol” and “Upper Austria” recorded low temperatures that reached 25.7 degrees below zero, which prompted the relevant authorities to issue an official warning of extremely cold, unusual weather covering large areas of Austria.
The Austrian Institute of Climatology and Meteorology announced that temperatures were recorded much lower than usual levels, and warned of the continuation of extreme cold in the next few days. It is expected that several cities and regions in the states of Austria will witness harsh, severe nights, in conjunction with continued sub-zero temperatures during the day in most parts of the country. A cold warning was issued for the next 24 hours, including the states of Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg, Kärnten, Steyrmark, and “Lower Austria”, in light of calls to be cautious and take the necessary precautions to confront the extremely cold weather.
Wolfgang Schreiber, chief physician of the Austrian Red Cross, called for not underestimating the extreme cold and its serious repercussions on health, and urged individuals to avoid outdoor activities as much as possible, take shelter in warm places and drink sufficient amounts of hot fluids, warning of the effects of frost on the heart and blood circulation of individuals, especially the elderly and the sick.
