A small robot that creates joy and interacts with humans

At the beginning of 2026, a small robotic doll named “Mirumi” emerged to lead a new wave that goes beyond the idea of traditional decorations, providing an “interactive companionship” experience based on emotional intelligence.

The fur-covered robot not only clings to the bag, but also interacts with the surroundings through sensors that monitor movement and distance. It tilts its head curiously, or looks away shyly when suddenly approaching, in behavior that mimics children or pets.

Meromi was developed by a Japanese company specializing in entertainment robots. Its name was inspired by a Japanese verb that means “to look,” which is the essence of its design based on visual and motor interaction. Its idea was launched in 2024, and caught attention at CES 2025, before quickly spreading on social media platforms as a “little companion” that adds joy to daily transportation.

The robot was designed with one goal in mind: to spread a sense of fun and break the monotony of crowded places, through simple movements and response to touch, with the ability to attach to a bag to be a constant travel companion. It is available in three colors, and was launched via a crowdfunding platform at a price of approximately $122, with global shipments to begin in April 2026.
