Abu Dhabi Police and"Space 42" They sign a memorandum of understanding to develop autonomous security vehicles

ABU DHABI, 7 JANUARY / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Police General Command and Space 42, the leading Emirati company in the field of space technology supported by artificial intelligence, signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in developing smart solutions that support the security escort system for autonomous vehicles in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in a way that supports the government’s directions in strengthening the smart transportation system and developing a safe and sustainable traffic infrastructure, based on the latest smart technologies, and enhancing the partnership between the two parties in the areas of research, development and innovation in the smart mobility sector.
The memorandum of understanding was signed on behalf of Abu Dhabi Police by Brigadier General Mohammed Dhahi Al Himairi, Director of the Central Operations Sector, and Hassan Ahmed Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space 42.
Brigadier General Mohammed Dhahi Al-Humairi, Director of the Central Operations Sector, confirmed that the signing of this agreement comes within the framework of joint efforts to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and joint coordination in a way that contributes to the development of the system of services provided to various segments of society in the Emirates, and in an effort to achieve integration in efforts and exchange of experiences. This ensures access to the highest levels of quality in providing services, by adopting the latest security solutions and technologies to serve the community.
He added that Abu Dhabi Police will work, in cooperation with Space 42, to support traffic safety initiatives and reduce accidents, by employing artificial intelligence and autonomous control techniques in police vehicles. It will also work to enable national cadres to acquire skills and knowledge in the fields of smart vehicles and autonomous control, through joint training and field programmes. Within the framework of future plans, the foundations will be laid to expand the scope of the project, to include various applications within the transportation system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in line with the vision of our wise leadership towards achieving smart and safe cities.
Hassan Ahmed Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space 42, explained that cooperation with Abu Dhabi Police is a strategic step towards employing artificial intelligence to serve society and support leadership in the areas of smart mobility, as this cooperation aims to develop smart solutions that enhance the security system of self-driving vehicles, and provide advanced safety systems that keep pace with the latest global innovations in the fields of security and safety.
