UNRWA lays off 571 local employees in Gaza due to a severe financial crisis


The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA, said that a severe financial crisis forced it this week to lay off hundreds of its employees in Gaza, knowing that they had previously left the Strip.

An UNRWA spokesman told Agence France-Presse: "571 local UNRWA staff, based outside Gaza, have been informed of the termination of their services with immediate effect.".
