The mayor called KievVitali Klitschko, residents had to leave the city temporarily after Russian raids led to the lack of heating in half of the residential buildings in the Ukrainian capital, which is witnessing a cold wave that is expected to intensify with temperatures reaching 8 degrees Celsius below zero.

Klitschko said on social media that "Half of Kiev’s residential buildings, approximately 6,000 buildings, are currently suffering from a heating outage as a result of damage to the capital’s vital infrastructure as a result of a large-scale attack launched by the enemy."

He added: "I also appeal to residents of the capital who have the ability to leave the city temporarily to places where alternative sources of energy and heating are available, to do so".
