Emirati sports in 2026 / Unlimited ambitions

Abu Dhabi, 11 January / WAM / The New Year 2026 agenda is full of a wide series of events, tournaments and foreign participation in Emirati sports, in addition to the country’s hosting of a number of major global events in various games, reflecting growing ambitions that keep pace with the prestigious position that the UAE occupies on the map of global sports, and establishing its effective presence in the fields of Arab, regional, continental and international competition.
Emirati sports, in its participation during the new year, builds on a legacy full of global achievements, embodied in winning titles and raising the country’s flag on foreign podiums, in addition to confirming the high competitive capabilities of the Emirati champions, and the qualitative development witnessed in the various games in performance and results, which was reflected positively on the country’s classification and sporting status.
Followers’ attention is turning to the UAE’s showjumping riders, who will participate in the World Championships scheduled to be held in Germany next August, after their brilliance in the qualifying stages.
The Emirates Endurance and Endurance Knights are also awaiting prominent participation in a number of world championships in 2026, based on a record of achievements in the past editions, which placed the country’s champions in advanced positions among the world’s elite knights, after successive achievements that embodied important stages of technical and physical development in the competition for international titles.
In athletics, the UAE champions are preparing to take on important continental and global challenges during the new year, most notably the organization of the international conference next April in the country, in addition to participating in the World Championships for men and women, which will be held in the United States of America during August, which represents an important station for testing technical readiness and strengthening the Emirati presence in one of the most prestigious Olympic Games.
The team’s agenda includes multiple continental participations, including the West Asian Championships for men and women in Bahrain during April, the Asian Youth and Junior Championships in Hong Kong in May, and the Asian Under-23 Championships in China during July, in addition to the West Asian Championships for men and women in Lebanon next September, in addition to a number of Arab championships scheduled during the months of January, February, April, June and September, which include the cross-country championships, and the Arab championships for women and youth. Young women, juniors and under 23 years old.
In the sport of jiu-jitsu, the national team continues its preparations to participate in many continental and international tournaments during 2026, most notably the Beach Games in Sanya during April, then the Asian Championship in the Japanese city of Nagoya in October, followed in the same month by the 18th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Championship, which represents one of the most prominent international stations on the game’s agenda.
The team will participate in the 2026 Asian Futsal and Martial Arts Games, next December, with great ambitions that reflect the global development achieved by UAE Jiu-Jitsu, and the continuous achievements that have established the country’s global leadership in this sport.

The judo team is looking forward to competing in a number of world championships during the year 2026, with the aim of competing for titles and collecting qualifying points for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, while the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship represents an important global stop on the international agenda, due to its high ranking and the participation of the elite world champions.
Faisal Ahmed Al-Khamiri, Secretary-General and Chairman of the Strategy Committee of the Athletics Federation, confirmed that the next stage of external participation in the new season will witness great challenges, based on the achievements achieved in 2025, which will enhance national ambitions to reach a new stage of distinguished results. He pointed out that the season’s agenda represents a strong motivation for the national team champions, in light of a promising youth base and advanced preparation programs that contribute to enhancing the chances of competing for podiums.
Yousef Al-Batran, a member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said that the participation of national teams in the 2026 championships carries challenges commensurate with the scale of the achievements achieved by the game over the past years, stressing that Emirati Jiu-Jitsu is moving steadily towards broader horizons of growth and development, thanks to strategic plans, an integrated institutional work system, and the support of wise leadership.
