Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week / "Energy and infrastructure" It reviews the country’s efforts in transitioning to clean energy

Abu Dhabi, 14 January / WAM / The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, during its participation in the activities of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026, is reviewing national policies and initiatives that support the transition to a sustainable, low-emission energy system.

His Excellency Engineer Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for the Electricity, Water and Future Energy Sector, said that Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week reflects the UAE’s commitment to building an integrated national energy system based on sustainability, diversity and efficiency, and translates the national vision into achieving a balance between economic growth and environmental protection, and comes in line with the directives of the wise leadership and the country’s long-term strategies.

He added that the UAE continues to achieve qualitative achievements in the path of transition to clean energy, as integrated national policies and strategic projects for renewable energy have contributed to raising the total capacity of renewable energy within the national electricity mix, with a target of exceeding 23 gigawatts by 2031.

He stressed that the renewable energy sector is a fundamental pillar of sustainable development and a major driver for building a low-carbon economy and enhancing energy security at the national level.

He said that the participation of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week confirms the commitment to achieving the goals of the next fifty years in the sustainability of the energy sector, diversifying its sources, accelerating the transition to clean energy, and consolidating the country’s position as a leading global model in building a safe, sustainable, and low-emission energy future.
