Sharjah honors 4 Tunisian writers in Carthage

Carthage, 15 January / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the 24th edition of the Sharjah Cultural Honors Forum, organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture, celebrated yesterday evening in the Tunisian capital, “Tunis”, honoring four Tunisian writers: the writer and writer Ezzedine Al Madani, the writer and academic Dr. Khaled Al Gharibi, the poet Zakia Al Tanbari, and the novelist And critic Dr. Mustafa Al-Kilani, confirming his established presence, is a pioneering cultural initiative that enhances the Arab creative scene through renewed stations that celebrate Arab creators in their homelands.

The honoring ceremony was organized at the House of Wisdom in Carthage in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, Muhammad Ibrahim Al Qasir, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Department, and Dr. Tawfiq Qurera, Director General of the Tunisian Translation Institute, representing the Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs, Her Excellency Amina Al-Sarrafi, and a group of intellectuals, writers, media professionals, and the families of the honorees.

The honoring ceremony began with a documentary presentation that highlighted Sharjah’s pioneering role in supporting and nurturing Arab creators and establishing a cultural environment that incubates creativity. It also included a review of the careers of the four honorees, stopping at their most prominent creative milestones and the distinguished literary and intellectual achievement they have accumulated that constituted a milestone in their cultural path over many years of giving and diligent cultural work.

Dr. Hatem Al-Fatnassi, who moderated the ceremony, praised the active role played by Sharjah in supporting Arab culture and intellectuals in many cultural events, including the Sharjah Forum for Cultural Honor.

For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Al Owais said that the Sharjah Cultural Honors Forum has become a shining mark in the Arab cultural scene, and a high platform for celebrating the creative word and honoring the intellectual figures who were loyal to Arab culture and made creativity a message and knowledge a path to advance the human being.

He added that this meeting was dedicated to honoring an elite group of writers from green Tunisia, who were devoted to their creativity, beautified their cultural contribution with deep thought and a broad humanitarian vision, and contributed to enriching Arab culture and confirming its renewed presence.

He explained that this honor comes as a well-deserved appreciation for Tunisia’s rich cultural heritage and the writers, writers and poets who, across successive generations, have formed a fundamental pillar in the process of Arab literature and a flowing stream of thought, enlightenment and beauty. The honor is also an eloquent expression of the fruitful cooperation between the Department of Culture in Sharjah and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in Tunisia, which stems from established fraternal relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Tunisia.

For her part, Her Excellency Amina Al-Sarrafi, Tunisian Minister of Culture, in her speech delivered on her behalf by Dr. Tawfiq Quraira, appreciated the efforts of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and expressed her sincere thanks to Sharjah, the Center for Culture and Creativity, for honoring a group of Tunisian intellectuals and writers in recognition of what they have contributed to Arab culture.

She said that Sharjah’s selection of the crowned persons was successful in terms of cultural radiation and diversity of activity, and also in terms of appreciation of the creative self’s sculpting of its creative entity in a way that is not cut off from positive interaction with its cultural surroundings.

She added that one of the characteristics of some of Tunisia’s honored intellectuals today is that they are academics who were not excluded by the university from their intellectual community. They have experimented with criticism based on solid theoretical foundations, noting that the cultural movement in Tunisia was built by the school and the university and built by effective education, and in this vision they combined the strengthening of knowledge with the tools of creativity and the strengthening of the bone of culture with the means of knowledge.

Her Excellency pointed out that the honorees can represent individual colors of the many Tunisian culture that draw from knowledge and heritage and believe in the self-cultural act in which skills are honed with talent and know-how, directing her thanks to the Emirate of Sharjah and its sponsors of culture for this honorary gesture that plants in the field of Tunisian-Emirati friendship a plant of good morals that flourishes and bears fruit at all times.

For their part, the honorees affirmed that Sharjah, with its pioneering cultural role, has become a landmark in the Arab cultural scene, a beacon for creators and a destination for creativity. They expressed their happiness with this honor, which they saw as an appreciation of their journey and the culmination of their creative efforts.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais and Mohammed Al Qaseer handed over certificates of appreciation to the four honorees in appreciation of their creative efforts.
