Dubai Police warns against imitating “deadly challenges” spread across social media platforms

The Dubai Police General Command has warned of the danger of teenagers imitating what is known as “trends,” which are deadly challenges spread on social media platforms, which include dangerous behaviors and practices among children and teenagers that pose a direct threat to their lives, including the “skull fracture” challenge, “suffocation,” “holding one’s breath,” and other reckless and deadly practices.
Dubai Police explained that these challenges, which are spread on social media platforms, appeal to young people and teenagers looking for entertainment and excitement, without realizing the serious consequences that result from participating in them. Some of these challenges in different countries have led to serious injuries and deaths among participants.
Dubai Police called on parents to play a pivotal role in raising awareness and monitoring their children, stressing that the responsibility is shared in protecting young people from the negative influence of some clips and information on the Internet, noting the need to educate their children about the danger of imitating the dangerous challenges that are published on communication platforms, and not be swayed by collective pressure from their friends or the desire to appear.
Dubai Police also called for the need to report any dangerous or wrong practices by calling the 901 call center, or reporting via the “Police Eye” service on the Dubai Police smart application.
