Nahyan bin Mubarak opens an exhibition "Silent power" In Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, 16 JANUARY / WAM / Yesterday evening, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, opened the “Silent Force” exhibition by the Syrian sculptor Wael Hilal, hosted by the Salwa Zidane Gallery in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of an elite group of artists, intellectuals, and those interested in plastic arts and contemporary sculpture.

The exhibition, whose activities will begin on January 15, 2026, presents an individual artistic experience that includes a selection of sculptural works made of marble, travertine, and onyx, where the artist explores the concept of “power” from a calm, contemplative angle, as a latent energy that comes from within, and does not require noise or display.

The works are abstract and balanced at the same time, so that silence becomes an essential element in shaping connotation and meaning.

A precise relationship between mass and space, and between stillness and movement, is evident in the displayed works, in a visual dialogue that reflects an abstract human presence, or sculptural structures that approach silent architecture imbued with a poetic sense.

In his sculptural practice, the artist relies on sculpting by deletion and reduction, dealing with stone as a living entity that carries memory and time, not just a raw material, so that the works are formed as states of internal cohesion and deep balance.

In this context, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan stressed that the UAE gives culture and arts a pivotal interest, as they are essential elements in building humanity and enhancing the quality of life, and a wide scope for consolidating human dialogue and understanding between peoples.

His Excellency added that supporting the arts represents a firm commitment to encouraging creativity, preserving cultural identity, and openness to various cultural experiences.

His Excellency explained that the cultural scene in the Emirates is witnessing continuous qualitative development, in light of an incubating environment for creativity that celebrates cultural diversity and provides effective platforms for artists and creators from various parts of the world. He pointed out that the arts, with their comprehensive human language, contribute to spreading the values of tolerance, coexistence and peace, and reflect the Emirates’ civilizational message based on respect for humans and enhancing their positive presence in the process of human civilization.
