Commercial revenues from the African Cup of Nations increased by 90 percent

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) said it achieved a 90 percent increase in commercial revenues for the African Cup of Nations tournament held in Morocco, describing it as “the most successful commercial story in the history of African football” without providing any figures.
CAF added today that this is due to the increase in commercial partners, the distribution of media rights, and venturing into new markets, most notably in Asia.
A statement issued by the sport’s governing body in Africa said, “This growth is accompanied by a gradual expansion in the sponsorship portfolio. The number of commercial partners has increased from nine during the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021, to 17 during the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast 2023.”
CAF added, “In the 2025 edition in Morocco, more partners were attracted, bringing the number now to 23 sponsors.”
“This expansion reflects the tournament’s attractiveness to new international brands, in addition to its retention of existing partners, for whom the Africa Cup of Nations has achieved an excellent return on investment.”
During last year’s General Assembly meeting, CAF said that it achieved net contractual revenues amounting to $96 million in the last Nations Cup.
CAF added in its annual report last year that the Morocco version is expected to contribute to net profits of $114 million.
