A final decision on the coach of the Egyptian national team in the 2026 World Cup

The President of the Egyptian Football Association, Hani Abu Rida, renewed confidence in the coach of the first national team, Hossam Hassan, after the end of the match between the “Pharaohs” and their Senegalese counterpart on Wednesday in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Abu Rida said, according to statements by journalist Khaled Al-Ghandour, on the Al-Mehwar Stadium programme, that Hassan will continue his journey with the national team and will play with them in the 2026 World Cup.

The Egyptian team bid farewell to the African Cup of Nations in the semi-finals, after losing to the Senegal team with a clean goal, at the Ibn Battuta Stadium in the city of Tangier, the bride of northern Morocco. Sadio Mane, the star of the “Lions of Teranga,” led his country to the dream final with a goal that came from an unstoppable shot in the 78th minute.

The Senegalese team took control of the match, while the Egyptian team relied on zonal defense and counterattacks, in a replay of the 2021 final.

It seemed that the match was heading to extra time, but Mane controlled a bouncing ball from outside the penalty area and fired a low shot that landed in the right corner of goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy.

Senegal, which is seeking to win the title for the second time after beating Egypt four years ago, will face the winner between Morocco and Nigeria in the other African Cup of Nations semi-final match.
