"source" The Chinese International Businessmen Federation concludes the Blue Economy Forum within Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

ABU DHABI, 16 JANUARY / WAM / Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company “Masdar”, in cooperation with the International Chinese Businessmen Federation, the global non-profit organization that links government agencies, multilateral institutions and business leaders, today announced the conclusion of the activities of the Blue Economy Forum, which witnessed fruitful discussions and the signing of prominent international partnerships aimed at enhancing international cooperation in the field of sustainability.
This prominent event was held during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week within the framework of a strategic partnership that brought together Masdar and the Chinese International Businessmen Federation, and attracted an elite group of leaders and officials in multilateral institutions and development banks, in addition to high-level business leaders and prominent community figures from the regions of Asia, the Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Participants discussed opportunities to bring about a qualitative shift in enhancing water security in the future, enhancing reliance on technical solutions, building more resilient systems, and supporting sustainable growth.
The list of attendees included His Excellency Patrick Herminie, President of Seychelles, and the event included keynote speeches from Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; and Eduardo Pedrosa, Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat.
As part of its efforts to enhance international cooperation during the forum, the China International Business Federation hosted the launch of a report entitled “Focus on Climate Technology: Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability,” which includes contributions from more than 120 heads of state, ministers and executives worldwide.
The report addresses the role of artificial intelligence in bringing about a radical transformation in mechanisms for mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change, and the necessary requirements to benefit from technical capabilities in developing sustainable solutions that are widely applicable.
Mohammed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, stressed the importance of the partnership with the Chinese International Businessmen Federation, and contributing together to enhancing global water security, and supporting sustainable development and international cooperation, through the Blue Economy Forum.
He added that the success achieved by the forum is an incentive to continue the dialogue on water and the blue economy throughout this year, in preparation for the UAE hosting the United Nations Water Conference in December in partnership with Senegal.
For his part, William Wang, the main representative of the International Chinese Businessmen Federation in the Middle East and Africa, said that the Federation realizes that consolidating sustainability is achieved by strengthening cooperation between various countries, sectors and age groups, noting that by bringing together global leaders in the Blue Economy Forum, cooperation with Masdar and the UAE government charts ambitious paths that combine innovation, flexibility and the blue economy in order to ensure a better future for people and the planet.
The forum highlighted the importance of the blue economy as a climate necessity and a promising field that extends to the oceans, seas, rivers and groundwater, especially in light of the escalating pressures on freshwater resources and marine systems as a result of climate change.
The forum brought together global leaders focused on promoting innovation in areas such as water management and desalination, blue carbon, sustainable shipping, coastal infrastructure, and ocean innovation, to serve as a link between the trade sector, investment and sustainability agendas.
The International Chinese Businessmen Federation had distinguished activities during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, as it hosted a variety of events, including a sustainable fashion show moderated by Alice Hu and with the participation of designers from the UAE, the United Kingdom, Hungary, China, Italy and Lebanon, in addition to a photography exhibition on climate and sustainability, and a reception on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, in addition to the Federation’s Innovation Pavilion, which included displays of robotics and other advanced technologies.
