"Ajman businesswomen" It encourages its members to engage in sustainable home farming

Ajman, January 18 / WAM / The Ajman Business Women Council, in the Ajman Chamber, organized a session entitled “Sustainable Agriculture” under the slogan “The Role of Women in Agricultural Development”, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of agricultural projects, encouraging women and business owners to invest in the agricultural sector, and highlighting the best sustainable agricultural practices and their role in supporting food security and achieving economic and social development.

The session was presented by Farah Shakhashiro, co-founder and vice president of Gracia Group, in the presence of a group of female council members and employees of government agencies, at the Thara Center for Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Amna Khalifa Al Ali, President of the Ajman Businesswomen Council, said that the Council is giving increasing attention to agricultural projects by raising awareness and educating its members about investment opportunities in modern and sustainable agriculture, and the real opportunities this vital sector provides to diversify sources of income, enhance food security, and innovate smart agricultural solutions based on modern technologies and efficient use of resources.

She stressed the Council’s keenness to intensify its cooperation with expert houses in the field of agricultural development with the aim of providing programs and initiatives to enable women to start successful agricultural projects that contribute to achieving sustainability and supporting the local economy, in addition to providing training and awareness platforms that contribute to raising the efficiency of women entrepreneurs and enhancing their readiness to enter with confidence in this vital sector.

Dr. Amna Al Ali explained that the Council is working on the “Plant and Reap” initiative by implementing refrigerated agricultural greenhouse projects and helping women to produce organic agricultural crops in a suitable environment throughout the year, stressing that the Council’s initiatives for the current year are in line with the goals of the Year of the Family 2026.

The interactive session discussed the role of women in the agricultural sector, and the state’s vision is based on the principles of sustainability, innovation, technology, flexibility and integration in developing the agricultural sector.

Farah Shakhashiro praised women’s empowerment in the country and the government’s interest in entrepreneurial projects. It provided many government support programs in the field of agriculture and food security, and also presented to the audience a number of inspiring success stories.

The session’s activities included an applied practical workshop on methods of planting seasonal seeds, and steps to properly care for agricultural plants and seedlings, with a focus on home farming, which contributes to enabling participants to apply sustainable agricultural practices in practice, and promoting a culture of self-sufficiency and optimal use of resources.
