Dozens killed and injured in a collision between two high-speed trains in Spain

The Spanish Civil Guard announced that the death toll from a collision between two high-speed trains in the south of the country has reached at least 39 people, according to what was reported by the Spanish Radio and Television Corporation (RTVE).

The authority explained that there were 73 people receiving treatment in hospitals after the accident, including 24 seriously injured.

For its part, the Spanish railway operator Renfe said that two high-speed trains collided yesterday evening, Sunday, near the town of Adamuz in the Cordoba province in the Andalusia region.

She explained that a train belonging to the “Aereo” company and managed by the Italian “Trenitalia” company, carrying more than 300 people, derailed and settled on the adjacent track. At that moment, a train belonging to the “Renfe” company with about 200 people on board was passing from there, and it collided with the “Aerio” train and also went off the track.
