Britain: We will not yield to Trump’s pressure regarding the future of Greenland

He said British Prime Minister Keir Starmer told Parliament on Wednesday that he would not yield to pressure from the US President Donald Trump regarding the future of the Greenlandthe Danish autonomous region.
Starmer added "I will not give in, and Britain will not give up its principles and values on the future of Greenland under threats of tariffs, and this is my clear position."indicating that he will host his Danish counterpart, Mette Frederiksen, in London on Thursday.
Trump had threatened to impose customs duties on Britain and other European countries because of their opposition to his efforts to acquire Greenland.
The American military base
Starmer was also criticized in Parliament by the leader of the opposition Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, against the backdrop of Trump’s condemnation of his government’s agreement regarding the Chagos Islands.
The Chagos Agreement stipulates that Britain will hand over the archipelago, located about 2,000 kilometers northeast of Mauritius, to its former colony, and pay in exchange for the lease of the American-British military base there for a century.
Trump described the agreement on Tuesday on social media as "Great stupidity"
In response to the criticism, Starmer told MPs: "President Trump’s words were explicitly intended to put pressure on me to compromise my principles. What he said about Chagos came literally in the same sentence in which he spoke about Greenland. This was his goal".
