Davos appoints Khaldoon Al Mubarak as President of the International Business Council

In a move that reflects the UAE’s growing position in shaping global economic policies, the World Economic Forum announced the appointment of Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Managing Director and CEO of Mubadala Investment Company, as President of the International Business Council (IBC).
With this appointment, Al-Mubarak becomes the first person from the Middle East to assume the presidency of this high council since its founding, for a period extending for two years, thus leading one of the most important strategic platforms of the World Economic Forum.
It is noteworthy that the International Business Council (IBC) is a strategic advisory body affiliated with the World Economic Forum, and its membership includes about 100 senior CEOs of international companies from various sectors.
The Council is an exclusive platform that brings together leaders of the world’s most influential companies (such as McKinsey and Iberdrola) who regularly participate in Davos sessions to exchange insights on the future of leadership in the 21st century and responsible innovation.
The International Business Council is an exclusive platform that includes more than 120 senior CEOs and chairmen of the boards of directors of the largest international transcontinental companies.
The Council aims to enhance the role of the private sector as an essential and effective partner in facing the accelerating global challenges, whether economic, environmental or technological.
The Council also aims to coordinate between companies and governments on issues of governance, sustainability, and comprehensive growth.
The Council also serves as a strategic link for shaping and making major decisions and initiatives that are presented and discussed prior to the annual meetings of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The selection of Khaldoun Al Mubarak for this position confirms international confidence in the economic vision of the UAE and the ability of Emirati leaders to manage complex global dialogues.
