The victory of Al-African, Al-Ahly Tripoli and Al-Wahda of Syria in the Dubai Basketball Championship

DUBAI, 24 JANUARY / WAM / The Tunisian African team opened its campaign in the 35th edition of the Dubai International Basketball Championship by defeating the Zamboanga team from the Philippines with a score of 96-77, in the match that brought them together in the second group competitions at the Rashid bin Hamdan Hall in Al Nasr Sports Club.

With this victory, the African team shares the top spot in Group Two with the Libyan team, Al Ahly Tripoli, which in turn achieved its first victory in the tournament by defeating the Lebanese team, Beirut, with a score of 85-75, inflicting the first loss on the Lebanese team, which had begun its participation yesterday by defeating the Syrian team, Al Karama.

The competitions of the second day of the tournament witnessed the victory of the Syrian Al-Wahda team over Al-Nasr, with a score of 87-65, in the first group competitions, making it the second loss for the Al-Nasr team after losing in the opening match against Al-Ittihad of Libya yesterday.

On the sidelines of the second day’s matches, the organizing committee held a basketball exhibition under the title “Dunk Show,” with the participation of a specialized team, in addition to a smash-throw competition with the participation of a number of foreign professionals among the participating teams.

Tomorrow, 3 matches will be held within the third day of the tournament, where the UAE national team will meet with Al-Ittihad of Libya, Homs Al-Fida with Al-Wahda in an all-Syrian encounter in the first group, and Zamboanga of the Philippines with Al-Karama of Syria in the second group.
