646 million dirhams in taxes recovered by 7.2 thousand citizens for building their new homes in 2025

Abu Dhabi, January 26 / WAM / The Federal Tax Authority announced that the number of approved applications for male and female citizens who recovered the value-added tax they paid for the construction of their newly constructed homes amounted to more than 7.2 thousand applications during the past year, with a total value amounting to 646 million dirhams.

His Excellency Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority, said: “We are always keen to ensure that attention and continuous improvement of services related to the Emirati family are at the forefront of the Authority’s priorities, especially the tax refund service paid for the construction of newly constructed citizens’ homes, which is continuously developed with the latest digital systems that are characterized by innovation and ease in implementation of the vision of the wise leadership aimed at enhancing social stability and supporting the development process in all fields, especially with regard to the residential stability of the family, and in line with the directives of the Federal Tax Authority. “The wise leadership has designated the year 2026 as the year of the family.”

He explained that these numbers of citizens benefiting from the tax refund service paid for the construction of newly constructed citizens’ homes reflect the rise in tax awareness, and also confirm the success of the ongoing modernization operations implemented by the Authority, by introducing more facilities to simplify and speed up the recovery steps for citizens who meet the legal conditions for tax refunds, within the framework of the Authority’s strategy to contribute to strengthening a modern housing system for citizens and providing them with the best standards of life and comfortable living.

He pointed out that the service witnessed many developments during the year 2025 to provide more procedural facilities to citizens. Among them is reducing the number of fields related to bank data details during the implementation of procedures through the “Maskan” smart application, as well as reducing the fields related to personal data. Electronic linking has also been made with municipalities to proactively submit requests on behalf of citizens, as part of the comprehensive strategy pursued by the Authority to contribute to the “zeroing digital bureaucracy” program to raise levels of efficiency, quality and flexibility, simplify and reduce government procedures, and eliminate unnecessary procedures and requirements.

His Excellency Khaled Al-Bustani stressed the Authority’s keenness to provide clear, transparent standards, procedures and mechanisms to facilitate citizens’ recovery of the tax paid for the construction of their new homes, to continue its development plans, and to continue its campaigns to introduce facilitated digital services for tax recovery, through meetings carried out via remote video communication technology to provide consultations and clarifications, answer all inquiries in this regard, and provide the opportunity for citizens to communicate directly with the Authority’s employees specialized in this service to facilitate the completion of the requirements for completing their requests. As fast as possible.
