Sharjah, January 27 / WAM / The “Sharjah Pearls Evenings” event will be held at the Expo Center Sharjah from January 29 to 31, which is held within the second edition of the “Sharjah Pearls” exhibition, the prominent event held under the umbrella of the seventh edition of the “Emirates Jewels” exhibition.

The evenings are jointly organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and “Suwaidi Pearls” Company, to represent a knowledge bridge linking modern science and ancient heritage and highlight the status of natural pearls as an integral part of the economic and cultural identity of the UAE.

During the first and second days, the evenings will host international experts from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and sessions will be held in the VIP Hall at Expo Center Sharjah to discuss the latest international standards for evaluating and grading pearls in a session entitled “Pearl Examination.”

The program also includes a session entitled “Stories of the Time of Pearl Diving,” which reviews the Emirati maritime memory through vivid accounts and experiences of historical diving trips, with the aim of preserving the professional secrets of this ancient heritage and passing them on to new generations.

The evenings will conclude on January 31 with an exceptional meeting on the “Sharjah Pearls Platform” entitled “The Pearl Diver Who Became a Tawash,” during which Ahmed Matar, founder of “Pearl Biography Jewellery” from the Kingdom of Bahrain, will review his inspiring career and his transformation from a deep-sea diver to one of the most prominent pearl merchants in the Arabian Gulf in a story of rise that embodies the close relationship between man and the sea.

Mona Al Suwaidi, Director of the Executive Office of the Sharjah Chamber and responsible for the “Emirates Goldsmiths” platform, said that the three evenings aim to provide a framework of knowledge from experienced people to empower creators and jewelers in the Emirates, noting that the Emirates Goldsmiths platform is keen, through the Emirates Jewelery Exhibition, to provide an environment that combines the heritage of the craft and the spirit of innovation, which strengthens Sharjah’s position as a leading regional center in the gemstone sector and supports the continuity of these heritage professions for future generations, especially in the field of employing pearls in modern designs and incorporating Heritage meets modernity in the world of jewelry design.

For his part, Abdullah Rashid Al Suwaidi, founder of Al Suwaidi Pearls, pointed out that the Sharjah Pearls evenings represent a journey down the memory of the sea and that the main purpose of every activity and evocation of the diving heritage is to present experiences by hosting figures such as diver Ahmed Matar and experts from the American Gemological Institute to link the past with the present because pearls, in addition to being gemstones, tell the story of Emirati creativity and deserve, as an ancient heritage, to restore its luster in a modern style that combines scientific knowledge and field experience.
