The film “The Voice of Hind Rajab” achieves a new international cinematic achievement

The film “The Voice of Hind Rajab”, by Tunisian director Kawthar Ben Haniyeh, has achieved a new international achievement, by reaching the final list of the BAFTA Awards, in the “Best Foreign Film” category, the awards of which will be announced on February 22nd. This comes a few days after it was announced that the film had reached the short list for the Oscars, the winners of which will be announced on March 16, which is an impressive culmination of the film’s cinematic career.
The film’s arrival on the final list of the two largest international awards in the film industry adds to the 15 major awards that the film won in a group of the most prominent international festivals, in addition to being nominated for the Golden Globe Awards, and last month receiving the Best Actress Award for Saja Al Kilani, and the Jury Appreciation Award at the Carthage Film Days Festival. This achievement reflects great appreciation in the world of cinema since its first screening at the Venice Film Festival, where it was received with a standing ovation and applause that exceeded twenty minutes. It achieved a historic achievement by winning seven awards during the festival, most notably the Silver Lion Grand Jury Award, in addition to several awards on the sidelines of the festival, including: the Golden Cub, the Italian Red Cross Award, the Arca Youth Cinema Award, the “Cinema for UNICEF” mention, and the “Premio Sorriso” award. “Diverso” (Different Smile), in addition to the Enrico Folcinone Prize presented by UNESCO.
During the past months, the film “The Voice of Hind Rajab” was shown in more than 15 international festivals, including: the opening of the “Doha International Film Festival” and the closing of the “Cairo International Film Festival.”

The events of the “film” revolve around a true story that occurred on January 29, 2024, when Palestinian Red Crescent volunteers received an emergency call from a six-year-old girl trapped in a car under occupation fire in the Gaza Strip, begging to be rescued. While they were trying to keep her on the line, they did their best; To bring an ambulance to her, her name was “Hind Rajab.”
The film was co-starred by: Saja Al-Kilani, Moataz Malhis, Clara Khoury, and Amer Hlehel. Juan Sarmiento Gee photographed the film, and the editing was done by Qutaiba Barhamji and Maxime Mathis, and Kawthar Ben Hania supervised the directing. While the soundtrack was by Amin Bouhafa, and production designer Bassem Marzouk.
The film “The Voice of Hind Rajab”, written and directed by Kawthar Ben Hania, is a Tunisian-French co-production by: Nadim Sheikh Rouha for Tanit Films and Mime Films, Odyssey Rae for RaeFilm Studios, and James Wilson for JW Films Production. MAD Distribution is responsible for distribution in cinemas and cultural screenings of the film in the Arab world.
The website “Deadline”, which specializes in cinema affairs, had previously announced that Hollywood stars: Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, and Rooney Mara, in addition to directors: Alfonso Cuaron and Jonathan Glazer, joined the film’s team as executive producers after their admiration for it. Diddy Garden and Jeremy Kleiner, from Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B, are also participating as production assistants.
Other notable public figures joining the project as executive producers include journalist-producer Jemima Khan, Canadian businessman and former Lionsgate founder Frank Giestra, and jewelry designer and socialite Sabine Getty.
