America imposes sanctions on the Cuban President and members of the Castro family

The United States announced Thursday the imposition of on Miguel Diaz-Canel and some members of his family, in addition to a number of members of the Castro family, as Washington intensifies its pressure on the island.
The list of those subject to the sanctions includes the son and grandson of former President Raul Castro (95 years old), who no longer holds an official position but is still a central figure at the level of decision-making related to the future of the island.
US sanctions

Oil supplies

In the year 2025, Washington imposed restrictions on granting visas to high-ranking Cuban officials, including Diaz-Canel.
Trump has repeatedly hinted that the Cuban government may suffer the same fate as Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who was overthrown by a lightning US military operation.
