Bin Touq: The civil aviation sector is an essential pillar in supporting economic and tourism growth

Hyderabad, 30 January / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, confirmed that the civil aviation sector constitutes an essential pillar for supporting economic and tourism growth, enhancing trade movement and linking countries and peoples, in light of the rapid developments the sector is witnessing at the regional and international levels.
This came during His Excellency’s participation in the ministerial session held within the agenda of the “Wings of India 2026” conference, held in the city of Hyderabad in the Republic of India, with the participation of a number of ministers and senior government officials from various countries of the world.
His Excellency pointed out that the UAE, based on the vision of its wise leadership, has established its position as one of the most important global centers in the aviation sector, thanks to its possession of one of the best logistical infrastructure in the world, and the integrated system it provides that supports air traffic, transportation and travel, and enhances its role as a major axis linking East and West.
His Excellency explained that the UAE accounts for about 2.3% of the total international passenger traffic globally, and 32.2% of the international passenger traffic at the regional level, and these are indicators that reflect the level of air connectivity that the country has achieved, and place it among the most connected countries in the world in the field of air transport.
His Excellency stressed that this position constitutes a solid base to move towards the future, as the UAE continues to work on developing a smarter and more sustainable aviation sector, based on employing modern technologies, accelerating digital transformation, and supporting innovation, in addition to adopting solutions that contribute to reducing emissions and enhancing the efficiency of operations, in line with global trends and achieving sustainable development goals.
His Excellency added that the UAE attaches special importance to enhancing international cooperation and building strategic partnerships that support the readiness of the aviation sector for the future, and keep pace with the rapid changes in travel and transportation patterns, which contributes to ensuring sustainable growth and enhancing the sector’s global competitiveness.
His Excellency praised the strength of the UAE-Indian relations, stressing that they represent a role model for a successful strategic partnership that serves the interests of both countries and enhances the potential for comprehensive and sustainable growth, especially in the areas of the new economy, aviation and tourism. He pointed out the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation between the two countries in a way that supports the growth of travel and mutual economic activities, and opens new horizons for joint cooperation.
The ministerial session formed a high-level platform to exchange visions about the future of the global aviation sector, discuss ways to enhance international integration, and build a flexible and future-ready aviation sector capable of achieving a balance between economic growth and sustainability.
