"balance" A logo for the Sharjah Calligraphy Forum next October

Sharjah, 31 January / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the 12th edition of the Sharjah Calligraphy Forum will be launched next October, organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs at the Department of Culture in Sharjah, and its activities will continue for two months with local, Arab and international participation.
The organizing committee of the Sharjah Calligraphy Forum selected “Mizan” as the slogan for the next edition, during a meeting held yesterday at the department’s headquarters, headed by Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Qaseer, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department, Director of the Forum, along with members of the committee.
Al-Qaseer said that the forum continues its global expansion based on the continuous patronage and artistic vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, as the 12th edition of the forum comes with a new look to confirm Sharjah’s pioneering role in paying attention to Arabic calligraphy as an authentic Arab art and to continue strengthening the forum’s noble message for the art of Arabic calligraphy due to its importance and special status on the historical and Islamic level.
He pointed out that the “Mizan” logo carries broad artistic connotations that embody the essence of Arabic calligraphy based on order and precision and gives the calligrapher a great vision for creativity in completing calligraphic work.
He explained that the concept of scale is reflected in the unit of measurement (the dot) that controls the proportions of letters, and in the precise balance between mass and space that gives the painting its visual rhythm, leading to harmony between calligraphy and decoration in order to achieve an integrated artistic unity in which one element does not dominate another.
On the organizational level, the committee will begin sending invitations to calligraphers and artists around the world this month, announcing the opening of the door to receiving applications for participation through the official website and social media platforms, as it has set the end of next May as a deadline for receiving electronic forms and proposed works.
