The Zayed International Prize for Human Fraternity Council will hold its third edition tomorrow at the Zayed National Museum

ABU DHABI, 2nd February, 2018 (WAM) – The Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity will hold the third edition of the “Global Human Fraternity Council” tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi, as part of the activities accompanying its annual ceremony.

The Global Human Fraternity Council brings together an elite group of prominent international leaders and experts, as well as a number of global women and youth leaders, to discuss the most prominent humanitarian challenges and review ways to enhance the values ​​of human brotherhood around the world, in a way that contributes to creating solutions and initiatives that bring people closer together and support the process of world peace.

The Council will be held for the first time at the Zayed National Museum, which was opened recently, and which celebrates the ancient history of the UAE and takes its visitors on an interactive journey up close to the legacy of the late founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” by combining archaeological artifacts, historical pieces, and distinguished audio-visual and sensory experiences.

Her Excellency Saeeda Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan, will deliver a speech on behalf of the judging committee of the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity for 2026, of which Her Excellency is a member, before the opening session of the Council, which is entitled “Women’s Leadership is a Pivotal Partner in Promoting Human Fraternity,” and witnesses the participation of an elite group of influential women leaders globally, whose work has contributed to consolidating the values of human brotherhood and enhancing the spirit of cooperation and solidarity among members of society in Their countries, including Her Excellency Megawati Soekarnoputri, former President of the Republic of Indonesia and the first woman to hold the position of President of Indonesia, Her Excellency Nemat Aoun, First Lady of the Republic of Lebanon, Her Excellency Asifa Bhutto Zardari, First Lady of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Her Excellency Veronica Alcocer, First Lady of the Republic of Colombia, and Her Excellency Leyla Aliyeva, Deputy Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The second session, entitled “Humanitarian Work in the Field: Speed in Response, Courage in Leadership, and Integrity in Implementation,” will also discuss strategies and partnerships that contribute to supporting afflicted communities around the world and ensuring the delivery of immediate support to countries affected by natural disasters and conflicts, with the participation of an elite group of leaders in the field of humanitarian work at the global level, including His Excellency José Ramos-Horta, President of the Democratic Republic of East Timor, and Professor “Sir” Magdy Yacoub, Egyptian heart surgeon. The world-renowned, co-honoree of the 2024 Zayed Human Fraternity Prize, Javier Garcia, CEO of World Central Kitchen, the organization co-honored by the 2025 Zayed Human Fraternity Prize, Kailash Satyarthi, 2023 jury member and 2014 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and Dr. Ghada Waly, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

His Excellency Counselor Mohamed Abdel Salam, Secretary General of the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity, stated that the Global Human Fraternity Council is an annual global platform for discussion and dialogue on ways to enhance the values of human brotherhood at the international level, and to establish a culture of coexistence and understanding among peoples, with the participation of an elite group of experts, international leaders, and prominent intellectual and humanitarian figures, stressing that this initiative embodies the award’s commitment to transforming shared human values into realistic courses of action that contribute to confronting hate speech and division, and building a more peaceful world. Just and humane.

The convening of the Human Fraternity Council coincides with the celebration of the International Day of Human Fraternity, which was approved by the United Nations and falls on February 4 of each year, in commemoration of the signing of the historic Human Fraternity Document by His Eminence the Grand Imam, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, and His Holiness the late Pope Francis, former Pope of the Catholic Church, in Abu Dhabi on February 4, 2019, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, patron of human brotherhood.

The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity is an independent global award that honors the great works of individuals and entities from various parts of the world who contribute to promoting noble human values such as peace, coexistence, integrity, extending a helping hand to others, cooperation, and charitable and humanitarian works. In its seventh session in 2026, at the annual ceremony held on February 4 at the Zayed Founding Monument in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, it honors His Excellency President Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, about the historic peace agreement between the two countries, and Mrs. Zarqa Yaftali, the Afghan advocate for women’s education, and the Palestinian humanitarian “Cooperation” Foundation.
