The contract for the qualifiers for the round of 16 of the Mubadala Tennis Championship has been completed

ABU DHABI, 2nd February, 2018 (WAM) – Today, the contract for the players who qualified for the round of 16 of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open Women’s Tennis Championship, “500 points category”, was completed today, which is currently being held at the International Tennis Complex in Zayed Sports City, with the participation of the elite ranked players.
The round of 32 competitions held today witnessed the Ukrainian Dayana Yester defeating the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maya in two sets to none, 6-2, 7-5, to face in the next round the Russian Ekaterina Alekndrova, ranked second in the world.
Britain’s Sunay Kartal qualified after defeating Spain’s Cristina Buksha in two sets, 6-3, 7-6, to face Swiss world number one Belinda Bencic in the next round.
Swiss Simona Waltert also qualified after defeating Australian Daria Kasatkina in two sets, 7-6, 3-6, 6-4. In the next round, Simona will face Danish Clara Tausen, ranked sixteen in the world.
Belarusian Alexandra Sasnovich, ranked 109th in the world, reserved her place in the round of sixteen after defeating eighth seed Paula Badosa of Spain in two sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. In the next round, she will face Filipino Alex Aila, who qualified from her victory over Tunisian Zeinab Sonmez.
Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, ranked eighth in the world, also qualified for the next round after defeating Russian Oksana Selekhmeteva in two sets, 5-7, 7-6, 6-2. In the next round, she will face Czech Sarah Bjelic, who qualified from her victory over American Ashlyn Kruger.
Indonesian Janis Tjen also reached the round of 16 after defeating Australian Maya Joynt in two sets, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. In the next round, she will face Russian Lyudmila Samsonova.
