Special Olympics UAE concludes a cooperation program with Nadi "Alvark Tokyo" For basketball

Abu Dhabi, February 3, 2017 – UAE Special Olympics announced today the conclusion of the joint cooperation program with the Alvark Tokyo Basketball Club, within the framework of supporting the exchange of technical expertise, developing training programs and methodologies, and promoting the concepts of inclusion and empowerment through the sport of basketball, as part of the visit of a delegation of Japanese basketball coaches from the club to the Emirates.
The program, which was held under the auspices of the Japanese International Cooperation Center (JICE), came to enhance the efforts of the UAE Special Olympics in expanding the horizons of international cooperation with leading sports institutions, and benefiting from the best international practices in preparing coaches and developing technical performance in basketball, which is widely popular within the UAE Special Olympics community.
The outcomes of the program, in which more than 250 players from various clubs for people of determination in the country participated, in cooperation with the unified partners of Jam Academy and Al Wahda Sports Club, contributed to providing professional training opportunities for players of determination, and motivating more participants to practice basketball in inclusive and organized environments.
His Excellency Talal Al Hashemi, National Director of Special Olympics UAE, said: “This program reflects our continued commitment to strengthening international partnerships aimed at developing the inclusive sports system in the UAE, and benefiting from global experiences in sports training.”
He added: Cooperation with the Alvark Tokyo Club constituted a qualitative addition to our programs, in terms of capacity building, exchanging experiences, and empowering players of determination within a professional training environment that maintains quality and discipline, pointing out that the most important characteristic of this cooperation is its focus on direct application and long-term capacity building.
