Syrian officials praise the role of the World Government Summit in strengthening partnerships and transferring expertise

Dubai, 3 February / WAM / Syrian officials stressed the importance of participating in the World Government Summit hosted by the Emirate of Dubai until 5 February, due to its positive effects through which strategic partnerships and relations are built, in addition to transferring knowledge from experienced institutions and learning about their successful experiences.
His Excellency Safwat Raslan, Director General of the Syrian Development Fund, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, on the sidelines of the summit’s work today, that the World Government Summit 2026 is an opportunity to discuss mechanisms for cooperation with similar funds and similar development institutions in order to support the Syrian Fund.
He added that the fund was newly established about 6 months ago and is working to develop a number of vital sectors, such as the housing sector in the first place, the education sector, the health sector, the electricity and water sector, and the agriculture sector in particular, considering that Syria is an agricultural country.
For his part, His Excellency Omar Al-Husri, Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport in Syria, praised the great relations between the Syrian Aviation Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority in the Emirates and the Civil Aviation Authority in Dubai, in addition to the distinguished relations with airline companies in the Emirates, which is represented in exchanging knowledge and experiences and sending trainees to train in the Emirates in the fields of aviation, airport security and safety, and air traffic control.
He pointed out that Damascus International Airport and Aleppo Airport receive most airlines, and during the next two months the first Etihad Airways flight will be received, in addition to the presence of Fly Dubai, which carries out daily flights to Damascus Airport. On the other hand, there are Syrian airlines, such as Fly Cham, which carries out flights to Sharjah and Dubai airports, in addition to the Syrian national carrier – Syria Air Holding, which carries out flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, pointing out that work is underway to develop the infrastructure of the airports. Syrian to accommodate all Arab and international airlines and large aircraft.
His Excellency Talal Al-Hilali, Chairman of the Syrian Investment Authority, said that the United Arab Emirates is one of the first countries to establish commercial relations with the Syrian Arab Republic through cooperation with Dubai World to manage the Syrian port of Tartous. Discussions are also currently underway with Bee’ah Group in Sharjah, which specializes in recycling and sustainability, and a major investment project in Syria will be announced on February 7, pointing out that the volume of foreign investments that Syria attracted in 2025 is estimated at $57 billion in the fields of ports and education.
